Virtue signalling at its worst. Political promises to end homelessness could never be kept. Who cares – it sounded good. But even the most cynical were shocked by what happened at the Portland Hotel Society.
The fact that cities can’t run deficits means that every spending increase has to be covered by taxes. And that’s meant massive increase in property taxes for Calgary’s businesses who pay 3 1/2 times the rate compared to residential rates.
Canadian families are on the hook for $27,000 in order to cover the shortfall in Federal pensions. What most people don’t realize is that the anti-business crowd is working to make that number higher.
Simply put – millions of people will not receive the pension benefits they’ve been promised. Higher taxes, reduced benefits and social unrest will be the result.

Parliamentary Budget Office says the carbon tax must rise 255% to $102/ton in order to meet Canada’s commitment to the Paris Climate Accord. And BC residents and businesses will pay the most by far.
