Mike's Daily Comment

Canadian ex-pats who don’t pay taxes in this country are still allowed to vote, should they get to influence government policy if they don’t live here?

All elected First Nations councils along the proposed Eagle Spirit pipeline route are saying yes to $620 million in direct benefits plus billions more over the life of the project while 5 hereditary chiefs (out of an estimated 130) along with their self described progressive allies say no to the profound difference that would make in improving band members lives.

The ignorance of Canada’s central bank and federal government continues of shock. The latest – late to the party BoC forecasts and maybe worse, new funding from Trudeau Liberals for the US-backed organization leading the charge to landlock Canadian oil.

Canada has wasted billion on climate policy for the straightfowrad reason that governments and climate change adovcates refuse to do a cost benefit analysis. A sure sign that they’re far more serious about virtue signaling than effective policy, which gets the best bang for our tax dollars.

A brand new study published in Nature Human Behavior finds that those people with the strongest views who think they know a great deal about a subject are the ones who know the least. The study’s talking about attitudes towards genetically modified foods but you’d be forgiven for thinking it applies to all sorts of issues from pipelines to free trade.
