Oil selling below zero is a reflection of how serious the economic contraction is – bad news for the Canadian economy – putting hundreds of thousands of jobs at risk – and lowering government revenues by billions.

Do you think the solutions to the unprecedented economic and financial problems we face are going to be found by political hacks pedaling yesterday’s snake oil?

Where are the hundreds of billions needed to quickly transition to green energy? In a post COVID world it won’t be government who are dealing with hundreds of billions more in debt or companies who will take years to get back to financial stability.

I’m talking about the Bank of Canada press conference, the key component to a strong recovery. No pablum, nothing self congratulatory – just facts and actions that the Bank hopes will prevent the recession from turning into a depression.

The provincial health officers are doing a great job but as the measures taken to fight the spread of COVID-19 result in a dramatic drop in infection rates, the public is going to need more details as to why significant aspects of the lock-down continue.
