Governments Destroys Concern Over Climate Change

By making the Carbon Tax just another revenue generator, the public, realizing its just another tax grab, let the Government know in a recent survey that their support for Climate action has collapsed.

Constant property tax increases, the property purchase tax, development fees, GST and PST on building supplies all push the price of housing higher. And now  BC’s new speculation tax will add thousands more onto the price of new condo developments.  But that doesn’t stop politicians from talking about affordability.  

 

Great Way To Reduce Support For Climate Change

The revenue neutral carbon tax introduced in BC in 2008 was designed as an incentive to reduce emissions with as little cost to individuals and business as possible and not another way for government to raise revenues. That’s changed in both BC and Alberta, as the government gets ready to rake in billions in tax revenue.

An online poll by Abacus Data found that 30 per cent of Canadians do not believe in the science of climate change and 42 per cent said the incoming carbon tax isn’t designed to change behaviour but rather to generate revenue for the government.
